~ Part One: Learn about a variety of frame drums from the Middle East and Mediterranean, including names, relationships, history, and distinctions of technique as Rowan plays traditional rhythms and solos on each drum.

~ Part Two: Learn fundamental technique for the entire family of hand drums from this vast region, including dumbek and frame drums:

~ tar (simple frame drum with nothing added)

~ dayereh (small frame drum with single rings mounted on the interior of the frame)

~ daf (larger frame drum with chains of rings mounted on the interior of the frame)

~ riq (Middle Eastern tambourine)

~ there will be enough Frame Drums available for use

~ various frame drums will also be available for purchase,

including the Rowan Storm Signature Dayereh by Cooperman.

Please bring with you if possible:

• your own Frame Drum

• recording device

• notebook and pencils
